Freight Train's a Coming!

Well, after spending the majority of April and May being a very bad fitness witness, it was back to the grind today!  I'm not going to lie when I say that the past two months have been a bit of a struggle for me.  I fell in love with fitness and pretty much lived for eating healthy and working out constantly.  Motivation surrounded me with my marathon team and all of our publicity.  But in the days following the race, I hit a slump.  It wasn't that I was tired of working out or sick of eating a restricted diet, I just didn't know what else to do and I felt like I should "reward" myself with putting in so much work over the previous four months and that I deserved a break.

So, I fell off the train and started going back to my old ways.  Sure, I would go out and walk a lot with my Momma and go hike with Missy. But as far as actually working out and eating anything healthy?  That would be a big N-O.  I kept telling myself that it was okay because I needed a break.  The only thing that this philosophy got me was a bigger number on the scale and low energy.

I got back from the beach on Saturday and went to good ole Wally World to stock up on some groceries.  I ate perfectly all day on Sunday and Monday and decided that today would be the day I find my groove for working out again.

Who is that girl??  Oh wait, that was ME in December!

Who is that girl?  Oh wait, that is me after winnng Biggest Winner!

I reviewed my post about my summer goals and although I wrote it almost a month ago, I'm ready to start achieving that goal.  Thinking about checking them off my list makes me all giddy inside.

The past several weeks has really been an eye opener for me and I'm so stoked to hop back on the train.  I realize there are no excuses for my actions, but I'm honestly glad that I did fall off the train because it is so easy to do in the "real world" and it just shows I'm human.  Isn't there a Chinese proverb or something that says "fall down seven times, stand up eight".  I fell down, and now I'm back up, so look out world because this freight train is a coming!!

Memorial Day

What a beautiful day to kick off the summer with the much anticipated holiday of Memorial Day.  I don't know about y'all, but today has been a pretty great day.  I woke up at what seemed like the crack of dawn (post 9am) to go walk a HOT 3 miles with Momma.  It was rough, lemme tell you.  We then spent quite a while getting the church all spic and span for our Vacation Bible School next week. Good times, right?

I also got a new job today!  Holla!  More information on that later, but it is going to suit me just fine and I start on Wednesday.  Can I get a witness??!  Then, it was RIVER TIME!  Living in Townsend definitely has its perks once summatime hits and today was one of those times.  The river felt great today and I just spent the day floating my worries away!  Momma's good friend Julie has a little cabin right on the river that even has a beach area so we just spent the glorious afternoon there.

Floating all day long!

I'd love to play beach volleyball with this little baby.

Cutest little cabin ever.

Kitchen area.  Perfect river house.

My island float was huge!

Tomorrow its back to the grind and I'll be sweating the morning away with kickboxing, cardio jam, and Pump!  Holla!

Golfing!

Today I played in the Lee Horner Memorial Golf Tournament.  Lee was the brother of my momma's best friend, and I play in this tournament every year not just in remembrance of him, but also because the proceeds go to youth athletics in my hometown.

Team Godfrey: Uncle Jerry, cousin Michael, myself, and Daddy!

The weather was blazing hot and the gnats were a little unforgiving, but we made it through.

Incomplete scorecard.  We ended up being -2.

Since I was the only female in my foursome, I had a big advantage on the drives.  Our team used 16 out of 18 tee shots. In case you don't know a lot about golf, that's GREAT!

Of course I had to pose for a blog pics.

We drove around in a golf cart, so I'm not totally sure that my four hour golfing adventure would be considered exercise, but I sure did sweat enough to fill a swimming pool.  Score!  I also walked with Momma tonight, so I got my exercise for the day anyway.

Oh, and FYI, even though I played collegiate golf, I'm not actually good.  I just pretend to be and try to dress cute to look the part.  Today was strictly fun and having the pressure off of my game made it a great day on the links!

My golf bag is fit for a princess.

My feet enjoyed a break from running shoes to put on some golf spikes.

Beach Days 5&6

Vacation's almost over!  NOOOOOO.  Thursday Ashley and I spent the morning shopping of course and she finally got hair feathers put in her hair!  She is excited to say the least.  It was our last full day of vacation, so we relaxed (and napped) on the beach for the remainder of the day.

Best friends.

Loving those bikers behind us that kept waving.

As for the evening, more shopping of course!  Us ladies just cruised around some shops and bought very little.  Then we "hit the strip" to ride the Skywheel, and ride a thrill ride swing.  Did I mention that it is black bikers week at the beach?  There were people everywhere and I'm pretty sure my ears are still bleeding from the zoooom zooooms coming from crotchrockets.

Barefoot landing.

Shooting star.

I wish this photo could show you how hard we were screaming.

Skywheel.

Day 6 was spent eating breakfast at Lulu's cafe since it was my momma's birthday.   Then it was time to hit the road home.  I drove until we were about 2 hours away from home, then Chickfila was calling our name.  After we got back on the road, traffic was real backed up so we ended up being set back an hour.  I'm  pretty sure it also took us over an hour to unload or stuff . Holla if you overpack!!

Glad to be back and get back in the groove this week!  Oh, and guess who got accepted to Samford???

Beach Days 3&4

Iiiii'm gonna soak up the sunnnnn, I'm gonna tell everyone to be jeaaaalous.  Okay, sorry I changed the words to Sheryl Crow's song,  but I am totally digging this whole sunshine all day every day deal.  Tuesday began with another morning of walking with Momma.  We didn't go as far, but I'm pretty sure she was too busy checking out the lifeguard who stood watch at tower 75 to notice.  After eating lunch at a local hibachi grill, the rest of the afternoon was nothing but soaking up the sun and sticking our toesies in the water.

Rice with chicken and shrimp.

Hot dang.

We were in for a treat when Momma's best friend and her daughter showed up to join us on our vacation.  Since they came a little later in the day, we immediately piled up to go shopping.  The purchases were slim, but pretending to be on ANTM was serious business. Then while in traffic, these crazy males started to talk to us and tried to convince us that they played for the Pellican's baseball team.  Too bad I had a baseball schedule in my bag to check their story.  Liars.  Oh, and we cannot forget the trip to Krispy Kreme to clog our arteries!

Bow chicka wow wow.  Rompers!

Boys are clearly liars!

Krispy Kreme donuts!  (Rather, what is left of them)

Wednesday was spent sleeping the morning away, plus a little morning shopping.  Beach bums was the words of the day and we laid all day long.  Ashley and I put our big girl panties on and actually got out in the ocean.  Be proud.

Getting my boogey on.

Please excuse my Voldemort face.

Only celebs have their pics taken in the ocean.

Beach Days 1&2

I know you all must be super duper jealous of me at the beach this week!  Coastal Carolina is flawless and the weather could not be more perfect (sorry to all you people back in East TN who are dealing with the storms).  We left Sunday afternoon and drove straight to the beach, only stopping for food and gas.  It is still early in the season so the crowds are minimal which makes it perfect for relaxation.

Ashley and I all packed up and ready to hit the road.

Theme phrase for the week.

I was so impressed by the organization of hot sauce at Taco Bell.

Gas is a must.

Yesterday Momma and I got up early to get breakfast for all three of us, and we walked about 4.5 miles to get our daily dose of exercise in. Let's just say that the Tennessee climate did not prepare me for the heat and ungodly 97 percent humidity. Following our exericising, we retreated to the beach for a day of fun in the sun. I was able to catch up on some Cosmo reading and work on my lobster burn. Go white girls!

Ashley is quite excited about going to the ocean.

Getting our burn tan on.

You know you like me.

Oh hey, best friends.

What an artistic shot.

Hooray for lazy rivers!

Last night, we traveled to a fancy Piggly Wiggly and did a little "high end" shopping. By high end, I mean we went into stores that only the priviledged could afford and drooled of what we would never own. Our big purchase of the night was a writing tablet from Anthropologie. Hello, journal! Food was next on the agenda and we decided on our favorite River City Cafe. Perfect day if you ask me.

Piggly Wiggly candy!

Pretending to be a good shopper and buy my veggies.

We totally dig the pig.

Hmm, The Perfect Summer?  We'll see.

River City!

Vandalism.

Dawwww.
My attire for running back to the pool to see if Ashley's bracelets were still there.  I look "tuff".

Ashley and I tried to be like all the cool people who walk on the beach at night, but soon discovered that we were all by our lonesome. Where the cool kids at??  So we settled for attempting yoga, and taking pictures of our lovechild, also known as the room key.

Not happy about no one being at the beach.

Vanna White?

Lovechild: RK

FYI, no I wasn't drinking.  I was attempting to do yoga sans laughter.

Curse you power balance bracelet.  I couldn't stand straight.

More posts to come throughout the week.  Lots of pictures too!  Hope your eyes can handle it :)

EYS and Packing!

So I'm sure you have seen Extreme Couponing on TLC.  If you haven't, then Google it.  Seriously.  I am always floored at how those people can buy hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of groceries and literally only pay pennies.  Anywho, both yesterday and today I tried my hand at a new extreme: yard sales.

Momma suggested we have a little yard sale to not only get rid of a few things, but make a little extra spending money for our big BEACH TRIP!  So I willingly woke up before seven in the morning both yesterday and today to sell our goods.  We didn't have much, but we made just enough to do a little something fun at the beach.  Maybe TLC show will come out with an Extreme Yard Sale show.

Front hand footage of our yard sale.  Not much, but still got the job done.

I began reading this book in between customers and am already over halfway through it.  Yay for reading and for having time to read!

This afternoon, Momma and I went for our usual 3 mile walk, then cleaned the church.  My friend KIM totally saved my butt today and lended me three swimsuits to take on my beach trip.  I love them and am so stoked to wear them.  I only own one swimsuit, so having a few extra for a week at the ocean will definitely come in handy.  Thanks again, Kim!

I've been trying to pack, but it truly stresses me out.  I get super compulsive and make lists and piles and such, but it is never organized which is chaos for my soul.  I'm also THAT GIRL who overpacks!  No, not THAT GIRL who packs a whole lot of stuff so that she can change her outfit with each trip to the hotel room, or THAT GIRL who has to bring two extra bags just for shoes.  I just pack a lot because I'm simply afraid that I will not bring something that I may come to need later on.  My pink suitcase sure does come in handy.

Disclaimer: If you are not a fan of organized chaos, please shield your eyes to the atrocity that lies ahead.  I swear I am usually an organized person, and by the time we leave for the beach tomorrow, my suitcase will be immaculate.  Until then, I leave you with this:

Don't hate me 'cause you ain't me!
