Bootcamp (round 2)

So the theme of the day is obviously Round 2 since I have began trying things more than once.  Go me, I know right!  The last time I went to bootcamp, I almost died and loved/hated it.  Yesterday's wasn't so bad.  My nieces came and showed their Aunt KK who was boss.  We skipped hill repeats and opted for ladders and sprints instead. Thank you, Lee!

The girls and me actually look happy to be there.  Blame the oversized pocket tee for my oversizedness.

I felt a lot better last night about doing bootcamp and actually enjoyed it.  From the soreness my booty is feeling today, I'd say my body loved it too.  Did I really just say that I enjoyed bootcamp?   Disregard that and go back to pretending that I'm just a whiner and a clockwatcher.

When did it become appropriate for my 7 year old niece to beat me in EVERYTHING????

Make. It. Stop.

P.S. Have you entered my GIVEAWAY??  Do it.  NOW!

Battle of the Bike, Round 2

So if y'all can think wayyyy back to a week ago, you'll know that I rode a road bike for the first time.  Well yesterday I did it for the second time!  Thank God the women decided to start a little later this time so I could sleep in past seven!  We all stayed together this time, but once we hit the main road in Townsend, I pulled back and ended up doing some backroads to avoid the traffic and slow speed!

The poison.

The sky was a little creepy at first.

Work it, girl.

I clocked almost 30 miles (29.6) and I didn't quite feel like I had an elephant in my butt this time, but I just wasn't feeling it.  Not too sure why.  Maybe I'm just not meant to be a biker.  I'm willing to give it another shot, but I feel like I should stick with running.

The scenery was pretty.

Can someone remind me to apply this next time?  kthanksbye.

Precious Cargo

So today I visited my wonderful marathon friend Robyn and got to chit chat for a while.  She was having a "giveaway day" in which she gave away things that she had came across while spring cleaning.  I totally racked up on goodies including running shoes for a friend, workout clothes, a lovely paisley cooler, baby clothes for sweet baby Dalton, and a baby jogger!  That's right, a baby jogger.  (In case you were unaware, I don't have a kid).

Gotta have a way to run with this sweet thing.

So in order to test out this new contraption, I had to enlist the help from the Carnes'.  Sophi was more than willing to be my guinea baby and even put on a smile for the pictures that were obviously a given.  It rides so smooth and I can't wait to go for a run with it!  Thanks again, Robyn.

Precious cargo in tow.

Focus on those fierce looking calf muscles.  (Can you tell that this photo is completely staged?  Who runs in Chacos?)

She was so scared of the stroller that she retreated to her cardboard house.

Oh, and on the job front, I got my first paycheck today!  It was only for two days worth of work, but money is money.  Holla for moolah!

Hey boys, just because I'm a working girl doesn't mean I'm unavailable!  Holla!

Giveaway!

Alright all you sweaters out there!  It is giveaway time!  Apparently I'm behind the times on this giveaway stuff because it seems like all the people I follow do giveaways.  My own personal story of giveaways has been a complete success since I have only ever entered one, and WON one.  Beginner's luck, I suppose.

My winnings from my first ever entered giveaway.

Slam Dunk!

As if I was not already sore from my first road bike trip today, I volunteered to be in the dunking booth tonight at church.  It was our family night for VBS and we had a rock wall, dunking booth, pony rides, petting zoo, and all the food someone could dream of.

First off I decided to climb the rock wall.  I'm not scared of heights or anything, I have just never climbed one before since I let my weight stand in the way.  But I got harnessed in and took off.  I made it over 3/4 of the way up before I fell.  Not only did I slip, but I slammed into the wall, taking out my knee and back.  The worst part?  The lady I gave my camera too forgot to take pictures!  Sad day.

Pre climbing.

Following the mayhem of climbing, it was my turn in the booth.  Just as I sat on the little board, my cousin came over and slammed the buzzer thing.  I cut my arm up pretty bad since I was still holding on, and my booty slammed into the ground below me.  Ouchers.  It was just about as legit as it comes and I had too much fun!  Hope you had a happy Thursday!

The thumbs up is a clear sign that I was ready to be in there.  Madeline was on standby to ensure that I got wet.

Soaked!

I may or may not have been doing the robot dance into the water.

Cory was such a trooper!

Battle of the Bike

If you can recall back when I made my summer goals you might remember that one of my goals was to bike 50 miles.  To me, that is a pretty big feat. Then yesterday I mentioned that I would be going on my first road bike trip today.  Guess what??  I totally did!  I met three of Missy's friends at Coulter's Bridge this morning to bike.  Carol even let me borrow her bike, so props to her for trusting me with her precious Fuji.  I am in love with that bike and I totally flew today!

Ready for my first road bike trip!

The ladies with me were going to ride up to the Foothills Parkway, so after about 3 miles, they left me.  The thought of being alone for the rest of the ride really freaked me out, but I kept peddaling.  I had a few encounters with wildlife that included 2 dogs, 2 turtles and a snake.  Then a dang black cat crossed the road.  Thank God that wasn't a bad sign for the rest of the morning. Nothing could stop me from taking pictures of myself!

Hello skinny arm.

I swear I went more than 3mph.  I just had to go super slow to take pics!

After getting into Townsend, I actually rode on the main road.  I stayed on the shoulder for the most part, and people surprisingly got over for me.  Thanks car people!  After staying and riding around Townsend and chomping on some sports beans, I was headed back to Maryville.

Fuel of choice.

Yeah, that says 36 miles.

Getting back to the parking area was the best feeling in the world.  I checked Garmin and to my surprise had biked over 36 miles!  Insert applause here.  Before too long I will have that 50 miles nailed, so look out world. I hope my biking gurus Nina Laughlin and Brett Morgan are crazy proud of the pain my rear end is in right now. Alright kiddos, what have you done to make your Thursday morning awesome??

Wild Wednesday

It has been a wild day!  Since I'll be biking a super long way tomorrow on a road bike for the first time, I'm just going to consider teaching VBS tonight my workout.  I attended our employee Bible study again this morning, and consider myself so blessed that I work for a place who allows us to get together to talk about our spiritual lives.  Love it and its totally worth waking up early for.

I got off a little early today, so I took the opportunity to take an extra long nap and when I woke up, my best friend Ashley came over.  She likes ice cream a whole lot so I scooped her out a lot and surprised her.  BFF of the year award?  I think yes.

Lots of sugar and ice cream: happy girl.

Then it was off to the Big Apple, or church as some would call it.  Yet again, we had ten 3 and 4 year olds.  Love them sweet kids, but they sure do keep me busy.  Don't judge me since I call it my workout.  Fun times fun times.  Tomorrow is my first long road bike trip!  Pray/think/love for me!  Kthanksbye!

Cute niece of the year award: Sophi.
